The Central Iowa Art Association’s 2008 Art Camp is for young people with classroom experience, ages 6 through 18 years. The focus will be on the creative process -- conceiving an original design concept -- and producing that design idea in a three dimensional form.
Classes will be held from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm, July 21-25, 2008 at the Central Iowa Art Association Studio and other rooms in the Fisher Community Center as the projects dictate.
Students will learn about each medium (wire, plaster, paper, mobile construction, and polymer clay are the primary mediums), brainstorm, put their ideas on paper, devise their construction procedures, gather their materials, and create their sculpture.
Classes will be taught by a combination of practicing artists and volunteers.
A sack lunch that does not require refrigeration will be needed each day classes are held. In addition to their lunch hour, there will be a 10 minute break in the morning and in the afternoon.
Art is messy. Clay, paint, glue, and markers may be involved. Students need to come dressed inclothing that can get dirty. Aprons or oversized shirts make good cover-ups, but they are no guarantee against the mess. Plan accordingly.
A student show and reception will be held to display their work on Saturday, July 26, 2008 from 2 pm until 4 pm. Parents and the general public are welcome.
